What is restorative dentistry?
Restorative dentistry is meant to help you regain the function of your smile. The look of your smile will always follow the health of your smile; you cannot have a great-looking smile without having a great-working smile. Some common restorative procedures are dental fillings, dental crowns and bridges, root canal treatments, dental implants, and even dental veneers. Getting your smile back to a healthy, working state is the goal of these restorative dentistry treatments.
What type of dental fillings does Dr. Suarez use?
Our office is dedicated to being metal-free in all of our service offerings, and this includes dental fillings. We offer composite resin dental fillings for cavity treatments. Composite resin can be matched to the shade of whatever tooth it is being applied to. This lets it blend with your smile and leaves your tooth looking as good as it did before the tooth decay started to take its toll.
Are root canals painful?
Root canals, used to treat infected teeth, feel about the same as a dental filling. In fact, in many cases the tooth’s nerve is dead and no longer registers any feeling. The numbing agent we use is precautionary in case there is some feeling left in the nerve after all. The point is that this procedure is meant to save your tooth from extraction, and the rumors about it being painful are untrue. Don’t let this myth keep you from getting necessary dental care.
What do dental crowns do?
Crowns are used in almost every area of restorative dentistry. They go over damaged teeth, hold the false tooth in place as part of a dental bridge, and are able to replace a lost tooth with implants. They are one of the most versatile restorations. We offer zirconia crowns to our patients and even have partial crowns (inlays and onlays) available for cases that do not require a full-crown restoration.
What are my dental bridge options?
Healthy Dental Expressions offers two types of dental bridges. We offer the traditional fixed bridge that uses two dental crowns and a pontic (fake tooth) and attaches to natural teeth, and we also offer implant-supported bridges. These options allow us to replace just one missing tooth or up to an entire arch of missing teeth.
Aren’t veneers a cosmetic dentistry solution?
Dental veneers are a primarily cosmetic dentistry solution, but they can have restorative value as well. For cracked teeth specifically, dental veneers are able to not only correct the appearance of the tooth but also support it and protect it against further damage.
Are dental implants better than dentures?
Dental implants are different than dentures. Dentures replace the gums and teeth, while dental implants are replacement tooth roots. However, implants provide maximum stability for any restoration. They can be used to anchor a denture in your smile.
